Apple Initiates Back To School Discounts
Once again, Apple is offering special discounts and gift cards to students heading to school or back to school. As reported on Monday, Apple is including gift cards redeemable through the App Store, Mac App Store, iTunes Store, and iBooks Store with eligible device purchases. Eligible devices include iMac, MacBook Pro, iPad, and iPhone.
According to the Apple website, students and teachers who purchase a new Mac are eligible for a $100 gift card, while iPad and iPhone buyers receive a $50 gift card. Up until 2013, Apple only offered education offers to Macs and iPads but have now extended various offers to iPhone buyers as market share continues to grow.
The promo gift cards are offered on top of discounted student and faculty pricing as a way to drive education, a massive revenue for the Cupertino company. Currently, education purchases can net up to $200 off certain Mac models, while iPad savings tops out at $30. The iPhone, as usual, is not eligible for educational discounts and the gift cards are not able to be used towards contract phone purchases.
The summer Back to School promotion will be on from July 1 through September 9, 2014. All deals are available through the U.S. Online Apple Store and local stores.
